In South Africa between Durban and JBay lies approx 1000km of untamed topographical and oceanic paradise, in the middle is the Wild Coast. For local surfers Lungani Memani, Andrew Lange and Avuyile Ndamase, it’s their home . Every year in June the ocean swells to it’s peak, hosting the countries largest surf conditions and also becomes host to the sardine run bringing together a huge marine bio-diversity including many species of sharks.
This documentary goes up close with Pro Surfers Lungani, Andrew and Avuyile, their family’s traditions and tribulations along side a hand selected group of the best shark experts from the region to uncover the real secrets and stories that surround the shark stigma that exists in South Africa.
The Official World Premiere of this documentary was at the Wavescape Film Festival on December 15th in Capetown South Africa.

awsome work. good luck, its going to be a great success. Will get some more shark footage and opinions in vanuatu. Saw over 30 sharks in 1 diving session last time there. Asked the locals if they were scared, they say ” na man, just dont spear em and make em angry fella” ………..later
good luck. like to hear when you’re back and have long awaited cup of something.
looking forward to the finished project…. amazing footage fellas, thanks for the images most dream of seeing, however thru you all i was able to experience underwater footage no none other!!!
Great idea to help dispel a few of the myths and reduce some of the stress on the backline – but at the same time give these beautiful creatures both the respect and recognition that they deserve for the possie they occupy at the top of the food chain. Good luck with the movie, have fun and get great waves in between!
Hi Jerome,
I have lived with the sea for many years, and like your comment very much, because I feel the same way.
If you use Facebook, I would be too glad, to have you as my friend.
You will find me in FB with my email address.
I am looking forward to hear from you.
Take care, Wolf
My brother recommended I might like this web site. He was totally right. This post truly made my day. You can not imagine just how much time I had spent for this info! Thanks!
Yes there is a stigma to sharks, since way back in the “Jaws” days. These are amazing underwater creatures, and should be respected—the unbelievable of over-kill for their fins is vicious—and when they are finned, they are thrown back into the water to die. How would the fishermen like to be tied to a pair of cement boots and thrown into the water????

This film looks awesome. Amazing shots in the trailer, and very captivating. Looking forward to seeing this.
This looks amazing! You must be soooooo proud & excited to see it come together after so much time & effort. Can’t wait to see it on the BIG screen in Oz! I am spreading the word Down Under to view this now.
looks like a great film! sharks are a reality in south african waters, and we need to be educated, in order to make informed decisions… congrats to the cast & crew, looks like they have done a great job at capturing the beauty of nature at its finest

Thank you for doing this. I am always exploring my fear of/respect for sharks, and I really look forward to this film’s perspective. Last week on a misty day I could’ve sworn something tapped my foot. I scrambled out of the water, pulse racing, all the while fully knowing that these guys are out there every day. It’s my playground. Their kitchen table. We share the ocean. Everyone wins? I hope so…
Hi,
Great trailer and I hope the movie is gonna be shown somewhere in our area.
My best friend peter started a website called sufers for sharks to draw attention on the problems of finning, the sick power of mass fishing industry etc. He sells shirts and donates money to shark project.
Whenever we travel somewhere we leave stickers and try to build up awarness that sharks are very important for the ocean. But even among surfers there is a lot of fear about sharks. I fear them too but I know it is their area and I am only a guest and if they kick me out of there area it is ok for me.
best regards from Vienna Austria,
Sascha
Where else will this be screened in Cape Town? Any future dates? Venues? Please. Thanks.
